WASHINGTON, DC - The American Small Manufacturing Coalition has honored
Senator Susan Collins with the "Legislative Champion of the Year Award" for
her support of the manufacturing industry in Maine and throughout the nation.
The award was presented to her last night in a ceremony by Rod Rodrigue,
Executive Director of the Maine MEP.
Rodrigue commended Senator Collins for being a leader in the Senate on
issues that impact the manufacturing industry. "When I think of Senator
Collins, I don't think of her in the Senate Chambers. What comes to mind is
talking with her on the manufacturing floor at Windham Millworks, at Hussey
Seating, at Brunswick Defense, at Bath Iron Works, or saving thousands of jobs
at Portsmouth Navy Yard. In doing so, she has been able to make a concrete and
positive impact on the lives of thousands of manufacturing workers whose
employers have been strengthened through services of the MEP and whose jobs are
more secure because of her leadership," said Rodrigue.
He called it an honor and privilege to present Senator Collins the award.
