Celebrating National Manufacturing Day, Maine Company Honored at Saco Award Ceremony
SACO, ME - In celebration of National Manufacturing Day, the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership (Maine MEP) today presented its annual Manufacturing Excellence Award to Xuron Corporation, a manufacturer of ergonomic electronics-grade hand tools. The company was recognized for its successful implementation of Lean manufacturing strategies that improved efficiencies, cut costs and helped the firm become a globally-recognized leader in its market.
The award ceremony in Saco was attended by state officials, representatives from the congressional offices of Senator King, Senator Collins and Representative Pingree and state and local officials, including Senator Linda Valentino and Representative Justin Chenette, who congratulated the company on its achievement and expressed pride that a Saco employer was selected for the 2015 award.

Today’s award ceremony highlighted Manufacturing Day, an annual national event designed to showcase modern manufacturing technologies and careers. In addition to the award ceremony and plant tour at Xuron, nine other Maine manufacturers opened their doors today and invited local students and the public to tour their facilities and learn more about career opportunities. The companies represented some of Maine’s best-known manufacturers, including Hussey Seating in North Berwick, Owens Corning in Brunswick, Cuddledown in Yarmouth, Modula in Lewiston, Compounding Solutions in Lewiston, Formtek Maine in Clinton, Little Harbor Window Company in Berwick, Northeast CNC in Gorham, and Maine Machine Products Company in Paris.
