AUGUSTA, Me. – The board of directors of the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership (Maine MEP) has announced the promotion of its operations manager Jim Fay to president of Maine MEP effective November 20, 2023, according to Board Chair Kristine Logan. Fay will succeed retiring president Larry Robinson.
“Maine MEP is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Fay to lead the organization as its next president,” Logan stated today. “Since joining the organization as a senior project manager in 2018, Jim has assisted Maine MEP clients in achieving more than $100 million in investments, cost savings, and revenue growth. He has an extensive knowledge of Maine’s manufacturing sector and a proven track record of success.”
Fay has served with Maine MEP as a senior project manager and then its operations manager since 2018. In that role, he led the Maine MEP field staff in efforts to foster manufacturing innovation and economic growth. He will become interim president during a four month turn over with Robinson. “I look forward to building upon the successful foundation established under Larry’s leadership on behalf of the manufacturers we serve,” stated Fay.
“Maine MEP’s succession planning has ensured that Jim is knowledgeable about the Center and is ready to assume the duties of president,” said Logan. “He will be responsible for the strategic vision of Maine MEP, managing the statewide field staff and ensuring that the organization delivers leading-edge programs and services that can help Maine manufacturers achieve world-class performance.”
Fay brought to Maine MEP more than two decades of experience working at leading manufacturers including being the plant manager for DR Power Equipment in Winooski, Vermont and as site leader at the Owens Corning facility in Brunswick, Maine.
Fay is a graduate of the University of Maine. He served as an adjunct faculty member with the Vermont Technical College and has earned various professional and industry certifications including Lean Bronze Facilitator, Operations Excellence Leadership, and Management Excellence.
