Maine MEP receives grant to assist Maine manufacturers through the Covid-19 crisis.

Maine MEP in partnership with The Manufacturers Association of Maine (MAME) and the Advanced Manufacturing Center at UMaine, is reaching out to Maine manufacturers struggling with both short-term and long-term business impacts due to COVID-19.

We will work directly with manufacturing companies to 1) quickly assess and identify your business operating needs and 2) formulate an action plan to shore up existing business and alleviate job reductions.

Maine MEP Project Managers, MAME’s Business Growth Services (BGS) group and AMC staff will provide an assessment to determine business needs based on covid-19 impacts and build targeted business strategies for companies based on their unique needs. This unique partnership between Maine MEP, MAME and AMC provides expertise from private industry consultants and firms specializing in finance, technology, business operations, HR/workforce, marketing, sales, and media, manufacturing industry experts and product development and engineering capability.Project Managers speaking with client in manufacturing facility

Over the next few months, we will outreach to approximately 250 companies providing immediate, short-term assistance to manufacturers in crisis from the COVID-19 pandemic. Our long-term goal is to help the companies prepare for the recovery and thus accelerate that recovery.

The program is funded by a Maine Technology Institute (MTI) $100,000 grant to MAME and $286,000 in grant funding to Maine MEP from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
